Having held a HRB-funded clinical research fellowship in surgical nutrition and cancer survivorship at St. James’s Hospital, Dublin, I have experience in the design and conduct of clinical research, patient and public Involvement, and biostatistics. I am also the current Chair of the European Society for Diseases of the Esophagus Young Investigator Division, a role that has given me excellent hands-on experience in large-scale collaborative research.
I envisage that the continued growth of the ISRC, and delivery of our first multicentre RCT, will help us to establish a functioning Surgical Clinical Trials Network across the Island of Ireland. This will enhance our community’s ability to deliver high quality surgical trials and research methodology training, to drive improvements in patient care, with trainee participation at the core.
